The better team on the night won and deservedly so. Any of the 2 sides would have thoroughly deserved their victory on the basis of their performances all season.
Barca showed more hunger and desire on the biggest stage of all. They were nervy  for the first 10 minutes but that was all . United never showed up after because Barca never allowed them.
For me staring Giggs was an error. Not a game defining one but an error neverthelss. You need people that will break the Barca rythm before they pass you to death . But enough of excuse. Barca are European champions and congrats to them.

I recall a similar timid loss to AC Milan in 07. We rose to win the next EPL and UCL and WCC. We will learn from this loss and be stronger for it.

One United!

I think Barca's style and players make them the best in the world by far. Man U owns the Premiership and got owned this week. I think no doubt Man U is a powerhouse but it's very difficult to play against a team who keeps possession of the ball as well as Barca and Barca have the players to pick the defense apart. Everyone saw E'to turned Vidic. That goal was pure class. Messi out jumps the defender (Ferdinand?)? Xavi hits the post. You can say maybe they had an off day but Barca was harassing the defenders all night and I'd say Manu U came up against a team in another class level. When you are constantly defending you give momentum and inspiration to the other team especially if you never see the ball for long stretches. Iniesta was doing what he does. Man U could not stop it and Barca played their game. The counter-attack was not very trhreatening. Ronaldo was well managed. I was surprised how well the back line of Barca played with Sylvinio and Yaya back there. No leaks back there. Messi was making his jinking runs. The guy is ridiculous. He causes so much trouble. Nobody should confuse him with C Ronaldo. And Guardiola is a great coach. He has faith in his guys and is a great judge of talent. What a touch of class when he dedicated winning the cup to Italian football and Paolo Maldini.

Barca played well but United's lack of usual passion made the gulf look so wide. The same team met United last year and couldn't make all their passing count. For all the passing against Chelsea the reall scoring chances over the 2 legs fell to Chelsea. For Chelsea and a lot of the football world to actually believe that Chelsea was robbed says a lot about how Barca can and should be handled. Wednesday was not to be.

I really do not want to make excuses for failure(failure is failure) but United never put on their dancing shoes to the party. Or maybe they were actually wearing dancing shoes  Grin

I agree Songhai, I wonder how the match would have turned out if both Barcelona and United were playing to their fullest abilities. The game would probably have been so close but United just "didn't have their dancing shoes on" as Songhai said and that's that. Like they say, there is always next year.

I heard from Goal.com that Pep Guardiola actually showed this video to his Barca players before the final with United:

Interesting... Very smart and creative of him to actually make a video to inspire your team.

On my first day back at school my teacher explains to my class she is an Inter fan.
She asks students to raise their hands if they are also inter fans.

Wanting to impress the teacher everyone but me raises their hand.
The teacher looks at me and says "Aaron, why didnt you raise your hand?"

"Because I'm not an Inter fan "I replied.
My teacher ,shocked ,asked"well if your not an Inter fan, then who are you?"

"I'm a Milan fan and proud of it!" I replied.
My teacher could not belive her ears."Aaron why are you a Milan fan? "

"Because my mom is a Milan fan and my dad is Milan fan, so I'm a Milan fan too!"
"Well," said my teacher in an obviously annoyed tone, "that is no reason for you
to be a Milan fan. You don't have to be just like your parents all the time. What
if your mom were an idiot and your dad were an a$$hole, what would you be then?"

"Then" I slowly smile "I'd be an Inter fan"

we did well not really liverpool il re-word that referee lives on the same street as dirk kuyt from the netherlands both of them the referee supported liverpool and they were best mate's sysports was on abou it for ageas kuyt pulled back on fabregas and hlebs shirt should be 2 penaltys would have been 3-1 arsenal and if bendtner didnt run across the goal would of been 4-1 arsenal home leg and it should have been 3-2 liverpool 2nd leg but babel dived, same for 2006 lehmann shouldnt have got sent off both refs was payed and suppported barca to let barca win and those 2 refs got fired and barca was kicked out of the chapions league but for sum reason they got put back in

omg has ur speakers broken on ur tv or summet skysport clearly worded it that they were best mates and there was speculations they were talkin about this game to swing it liverpools way on a evening and two refs did get fired 1 before the arsenal barca game because he wore a barca shirt pissed in a barca fan coach and the second 1 was fired because he admitted he was payed money 2 send lehmann off

Arsenal have had trouble before with Norwegians called Hauge, but even the referee's admission yesterday that he was hasty in his judgment of Jens Lehmann's dismissal could not alter the neutral's view that Barcelona deserved victory (gaurdian)
