We come into the last day with the unlikely needed to happen for us to advance...and it all did.  With the goals allowed we have, we needed a combination of Brazil 3-0 over italy and same for us.  But it all happened.

Man of the match...Oneywu?  Donovan?  Bradley?  Oneywu went up everytime and didnt lose a single ball, the spine of our defense.

Donovan played the best I had seen him in a long time, using his speed and running at the defense.

Bradley had a good amount of shots, and 2nd goal was assist from donovan.

Other goals davies, bradley and dempsey.  Dempsey didnt play well at all for that exception.  Things looked good, we played with a purpose, good ball possession.  Im proud!  We play Espana on Weds.

Quite honestly, I am surprised !

I though Egypt would be the undergrounds and with such solid performances already, I believed that they will be able to go farther than this. That's too bad I guess... they should defiantly leave this tournament with their heads held up high as they defeated the current WC Champs and put in a magnificent preformance and were very close to defeating one of the worlds best national teams, Brazil.

As for USA, I have to say congrats for this win and good job.

what do you mean? Are you saying Italy was beaten 3-0 and USA also won 3-0 against Egypt? No I don't believe it. You must be joking or something.

This is the best compliment I can give.

I am utterly speechless!

Once I calm down from my anger fits I will discuss in detail lol

On my first day back at school my teacher explains to my class she is an Inter fan.
She asks students to raise their hands if they are also inter fans.

Wanting to impress the teacher everyone but me raises their hand.
The teacher looks at me and says "Aaron, why didnt you raise your hand?"

"Because I'm not an Inter fan "I replied.
My teacher ,shocked ,asked"well if your not an Inter fan, then who are you?"

"I'm a Milan fan and proud of it!" I replied.
My teacher could not belive her ears."Aaron why are you a Milan fan? "

"Because my mom is a Milan fan and my dad is Milan fan, so I'm a Milan fan too!"
"Well," said my teacher in an obviously annoyed tone, "that is no reason for you
to be a Milan fan. You don't have to be just like your parents all the time. What
if your mom were an idiot and your dad were an a$$hole, what would you be then?"

"Then" I slowly smile "I'd be an Inter fan"

Well done Usa. I didntwatch the match as i watched Brazil v Italy Smiley but the commentators said you were dominating. From 0pts and 4th to 3points and 2nd is absolute Klass!!! Tbh i didnt expect it but now u gotta focus on Spain. They are 1 of the Toughest teams you couldve got but if you play like u did vs Egypt then you may have a larger chance of another upset, i reckon you could do it Smiley.

Egypt were without Zidan and he is so important to their game. Him and Abou Tarika are deadly. So, the US were lucky they didn't have to face the same team that gave Brazil a lot of problems and beat Italy. But it was a good performance by the US overall and they won by the margin needed to go through.

I did not watch the match but I honestly think it is rude to think USA was lucky, 3-0 couldn't have been luck. I didn't expect them to win by half a goal but they managed to win by 3-0 which is incredible.

The effort and hope from the Americans was remarkable! When they went to halftime up 1-0 and heard that Brazil were up 3-0 it put an incredible boost of energy into them and there was no way Egypt were going to stop us!!

What a day for American soccer, but it's still a meaningless tournament and the US only advanced on one good game against a team they should beat and pure luck.

I cant wait for the Spain game tho and I hope this propels the boys into a great next year or so!

NOTE:  This game should of been 4-0.  Altidore with a shot on goal and a handball stopped it from going in. (no penalty was awarded, replay was showed and announcers agreed handball)

Expect to see a red card against spain!:p (Fifa Fraud Red cards!)

I'm glad the handball didn't stop the boys from scoring two more quick goals!

umm...you didn't watch the match so why are you saying I'm insulting the US? By luck I mean the US was playing a team that was crippled. Who is to say what the outcome would have been if Zidan was healthy. The fact remains Egypt is a completely different team without Zidan and the US without a doubt had an easier time playing them with him missing. Egypt has little depth after Zidan. He scored 2 goals against Brazil and could have scored more. I have no interest in whether the US wins or loses. Nor do I care whether Egypt wins or loses. I just watch the game. But injuries are part of any sport or competition. That adds to the spectacle. What would Spain have been like in the semi-final with Iniesta and Senna in the lineup? I'm not saying the result would have been different but Spain would definitely be improved a lot by those players and who knows.

I'm not one of those idiots who think the US has no national team. Some people still don't give them any respect but I saw how well the US played Italy in the last WC. I was really impressed by their organization on the field so I could see they were for real in 2006 and they tied Italy. Just because I think the US had it easy against a weak Egypt does not make me rude. Nor did I say something untrue. You are trying to imply something I didn't say, that the US isn't a good team and were therefore lucky to get by Egypt. Yet you completely ignored my comment that it was a good performance overall for the US team.

You have got a point but I sincerely believe the Americans won because they deserve to win and becos their manager's tactics was the best on the day.

Egypt made the mistake of trying to win the match instead of trying to get a point from the game. They were busy attacking when they ought to have tried to defend and work on counter attacks.

Methink Egypt would have won had they defended first before attacking. They might have lost the battle but would still have won the war as a 1-0 lost would have seen them through.

Nicolae Dobrin - the greatest player ever!

I find that Italy should have qualified not the USA;
They both had the same amount of points and goal difference, and Italy beat USA 3-1 in their match-up. So why did the U.S.A. qualify? Did they change the rules or something? Maybe it had something to do with a new rule being that goals for come before goal differencial and so on, but still, wouldn't Italy qualify?

I'm confused.
